- [Our Story](https://desertroseinn.com/our-story/): Bluff, Utah, USA\n\nOur Story\n\nAmer and Cindy Tumeh’s first dip into the hospitality industry started with the purchase of the Historic Jens Nielson home in Bluff, Utah.  The Jens Nielson house was the home of one of the original Hole-in-the-Rock pioneers that settled Bluff in 1880.  Amer and Cindy renovated the historic home, making it into a 5 bedroom Guest House.  Finding they loved the people and the process so much, they decided to expand.  They did not want to destroy the historic integrity of the Jens Nielson home and decided to build outside the historic district.  In 1997, in the current location of the Desert Rose, they opened 5 Executive Cabins and an office cabin.
Two years later, now with a son, Tarrik, the Tumehs made a big leap of faith.   In 1999, they drew up plans for a 30 room lodge and conference facility.  They headed to the bank and presented their plans for a brand new Desert Rose Inn & Cabins.  Being absolutely certain there was no way the bank would give a couple of kids with limited experience a large loan, Cindy told Amer if the bank approved their loan, she would gladly sign-on.  The bankers were impressed with the Tumehs and their plans and funded the loan.
But, their work was not done.  An additional expansion included the Courtyard building which features an indoor pool, designer appointed rooms, rustic chic lobby, and outdoor deck.  To make certain their guests had an outstanding place to dine while at the resort, Duke’s restaurant was added a few years later.  The secluded Secret Garden was added as a venue for events such as graduations and wedding receptions.
For over 25 years, they have operated the Desert Rose Inn & Cabins and have welcomed guests from all over the world.  They have been blessed with an amazing staff and a flourishing business.  They truly hope their guests love southeastern Utah and all the beauty that surrounds them as much as they do.\n\n
